Children, Young Persons, and Their Families (Oranga Tamariki) Legislation Bill
This omnibus bill covers a wide range of legislative reforms to support the new operating model for the Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki, and will establish the statutory framework required to create a more child-centred operating model to meet the needs of vulnerable children and young persons.
Children, Young Persons, and Their Families (Advocacy, Workforce, and Age Settings) Amendment Bill
This bill extends State responsibility for the care and protection of vulnerable young persons, ensures that vulnerable children and young persons are able to have their views considered as part of decision making and the development of departmental services and policy, and enables enhanced access to appropriate specialist skills and expertise to respond to the needs of vulnerable children and young persons.
Child Protection (Child Sex Offender Government Agency Registration) Bill
This bill establishes a Child Sex Offender Register that aims to reduce sexual reoffending against child victims, and the risk posed by serious child sex offenders by providing government agencies with the information needed to monitor child sex offenders in the community and providing up-to-date information that assists the Police to more rapidly resolve cases of child sex offending.
Social Security (Extension of Young Persons Services and Remedial Matters) Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Social Security Act 1964 to extend the existing Youth Service to all 19-year-old beneficiaries with children, and 18- and 19-year-old beneficiaries without children who are considered at significant risk of long-term welfare dependency. It also fixes certain deficiencies and ambiguities in the legislation.
Support for Children in Hardship Bill
This Bill is an omnibus Bill introduced under Standing Order 263(a). The Bill strengthens work expectations and increases assistance for parents on a benefit and who have dependent children from 1 April 2016.
Social Security (Commencement of Benefits) Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Social Security Act 1964 to correct, with retrospective effect to 3 June 1998, an error in the legislation that does not give effect to the policy intent that a benefit commences on the day after a stand down period ends as opposed to the day on which the stand down period ends.
