Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Credit Contracts Act by strengthening requirements to lend responsibly, especially in relation to how affordability and suitability tests should be conducted, limiting the accumulation of interest and fees on high-cost loans, and providing new remedies and penalties for non-compliance.
COVID-19 Response (Courts Safety) Legislation Bill
The single broad policy of this omnibus bill is to support the safe and effective operation of courts and tribunals by making amendments to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among those who use or visit the courts, or carry out work at the courts.
Conversion Practices Prohibition Legislation Bill
This bill is an omnibus bill to prohibit conversion practices that seek to change or suppress a person's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Immigration (COVID-19 Response) Amendment Bill
This bill extends the repeal date of the Government's temporary powers relating to visas in response to the COVID-19 outbreak by 2 years, to the close of 15 May 2023. It also extends the maximum duration of a suspension in the ability of certain offshore persons to make temporary entry class visa applications from 3 months to 6 months.
Family Court (Supporting Children in Court) Legislation Bill
This omnibus bill amends the Care of Children Act 2004 and the Family Dispute Resolution Act 2013 to assist in enhancing child wellbeing in care-of-children proceedings, both directly and by assisting parents to resolve parenting disputes.
Maritime Powers Extension Bill
The objectives of this bill are to provide the New Zealand Customs Service with an additional option to disrupt drugs smuggling, and to establish clear jurisdiction over offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975.
Commerce Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Commerce Act 1986 by introducing a competition studies regime, updating the regulatory regime for airports to improve its effectiveness, and updating the alternative enforcement mechanisms available to the Commerce Commission.
Telecommunications (New Regulatory Framework) Amendment Bill
The purpose of this bill is to amend the Telecommunications Act 2001 to: establish a regulatory framework for fibre fixed line access services; remove unnecessary copper fixed line access service regulation; streamline regulatory processes; and provide more regulatory oversight of retail service quality.
Financial Services Legislation Amendment Bill
This is an omnibus bill that makes amendments to ensure that the conduct and client-care obligations of financial service providers and the regulation of financial markets remain fit for purpose, and also addresses misuse of the financial service providers register by off-shore entities.
