Fire and Emergency New Zealand Bill

This Bill repeals the two Acts governing fire services, the Fire Service Act 1975 and the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, to give effect to a single, unified fire services organisation for New Zealand.

Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Bill

This bill will replace the Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Act 1966, and provides for the compulsory assessment and treatment of individuals who are considered to have a severe substance addiction and who do not have the capacity to participate in treatment.

Passports Amendment Bill (No 2)

This Bill amends the Passports Act 1992 by extending the maximum validity period of the New Zealand passport from 5 years to 10 years for persons who are at least 16 years old and by taking into account certain changes in technology. The Bill also removes a number of redundant provisions in the Act.

Gambling Amendment Bill (No 3)

The bill proposes amendments to the Gambling Act to increase transparency of grant-making from the proceeds of Class 4 gambling; reduce potential conflicts of interest situations between Class 4 gambling operators (societies), venues, and grant recipients; improve transparency surrounding management companies that provide societies with services; simplify compliance and reduce costs for societies and venue owners; and ensure the efficiency of the appeals process is not undermined.
