This bill repeals the Business Payment Practices Act 2023 and revokes its secondary legislation.
Arbitration Amendment Bill
The purpose of this bill is to amend the Arbitration Act 1996 to ensure arbitration clauses in trust deeds are given effect to extend the presumption of confidentiality in arbitration to a rebuttable presumption of confidentiality in related court proceedings under the Act, to clearly define the grounds for setting aside an arbitral award and bring New Zealand’s approach into line with foreign arbitration legislation, and to confirm the consequence of failing to raise a timely objection to an arbitral tribunal’s jurisdiction.
New Zealand Superannuation and Retirement Income (Fair Residency) Amendment Bill
This bill raises the minimum residency qualification for New Zealand Superannuation from 10 years to 20 years after age 20.
Secondhand Dealers and Pawnbrokers (Electronic Records) Amendment Bill
This Member's bill amends the Secondhand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 2004 to enable New Zealand Police to recover and trace stolen property as well as apprehend offenders involved in this activity.
