Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Bill (No 5)
This bill's purpose is to prevent the revocation of certain subordinate legislation that by virtue of the Act under which it is made, is revoked at a stated time unless earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament. This bill relates to items of subordinate legislation made in the year ending on 30 June 2020.
Education and Training Bill
This bill establishes and regulates an education system to provide New Zealanders with lifelong learning opportunities so that they engage fully in society.
Arms (Licence Holders' Applications for New Licences) Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Arms Act 1983 to address concerns raised by the firearms community about delays in processing licence holders' applications for new firearms licences.
Education (Charter Schools Abolition) Amendment Bill
The purpose of this bill is to abolish partnership schools kura hourua ("charter schools") in New Zealand.
COVID-19 Public Health Response Amendment Bill (No 2)
This bill seeks to better reflect our knowledge of how long the public health response may be necessary, to address the reliance of MIQ on the general law and operational decisions, and to ensure that the empowering and enforcement provisions are fit-for-purpose to prevent and manage the risk of outbreak or spread of COVID-19.
Education Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Education Act 1989 and the related Education (Update) Amendment Act 2017. The public policy objectives of the bill are to strengthen the quality of school education; improve the governance of tertiary education institutions; support the introduction of free tertiary education; improve the new strategic planning and reporting framework for State and State integrated schools; and resolve errors and omissions in the two Acts that this bill amends.
Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand) Amendment Bill
This bill proposes that the membership of the Teaching Council be increased to 13, to include a senior ECE leader and a teacher educator and 5 other qualified and registered teachers/teacher leaders, and ministerial appointment to fill the 6 other member positions.
COVID-19 Response (Further Management Measures) Legislation Bill (No 2)
This omnibus bill has a single broad policy to make amendments relating to administrative matters, such as timelines for financial reporting, and to taxation legislation that are aimed at assisting the Government and New Zealanders to more effectively manage and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
Education (Vocational Education and Training Reform) Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Education Act 1989 and repeals the Industry Training and Apprenticeships Act 1992 to create a unified and cohesive vocational education and training system.
