Moriori Claims Settlement Bill
This bill gives effect to certain matters contained in the deed of settlement signed on 14 February 2020 by the Crown and Moriori.
Abortion Legislation Bill
This omnibus bill amends the law to decriminalise abortion, better align the regulation of abortion services with other health services, and modernise the legal framework for abortion currently set out in the Crimes Act 1961 and the Contraception, Sterilisation, and Abortion Act 1977.
Ngāti Hinerangi Claims Settlement Bill
This bill gives effect to certain matters contained in the deed of settlement signed on 4 May 2019 between the Crown and Ngāti Hinerangi; this deed will be the final settlement of all the historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Ngāti Hinerangi resulting from acts or omissions by the Crown before 21 September 1992.
Ahuriri Hapū Claims Settlement Bill
This settlement bill records the acknowledgements and apology given by the Crown to Ahuriri Hapū in the deed of settlement dated 2 November 2016, and gives effect to the deed, in which the Crown and Ahuriri Hapū agree to a final settlement of all historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Ahuriri Hapū.
Electoral Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Electoral Act 1993 and the Electoral Regulations 1996 to improve enrolment and voting processes to better enfranchise voters, uphold the integrity of the electoral system by ensuring that elections are conducted efficiently and securely, and support the effective conduct of future elections.
Ombudsmen (Protection of Name) Amendment Bill
This bill will protect the use of the name "Ombudsman" by restricting its use to persons appointed under the Ombudsman Act 1975 or a public sector department or organisation responsible for the administration of the Ombudsman Act 1975.
Terrorism Suppression (Control Orders) Bill
This bill introduces a civil regime of control orders to manage and monitor a small number of people who are returning to, or who have arrived in, New Zealand after having engaged in terrorism-related activities overseas.
Referendums Framework Bill
This bill provides a single set of legislative provisions to govern the conduct of referendums held alongside the 2020 general election. A referendum may be conducted under this bill only if it is declared by an Order in Council to be a referendum for the purposes of the bill or declared by an Act to be a referendum for the purposes of the bill.
Electoral (Registration of Sentenced Prisoners) Amendment Bill (No 2)
This bill amends the Electoral Act 1993 to remedy inconsistencies in its provisions about enrolment of sentenced prisoners that were introduced by the amendments in the Electoral (Registration of Sentenced Prisoners) Amendment Act 2020.
Criminal Cases Review Commission Bill
This bill establishes the Criminal Cases Review Commission. The Commission's purpose is to review convictions and sentences and decide whether to refer them to the appeal court. This will replace the power currently exercised by the Governor-General under section 406 of the Crimes Act 1961.
