Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Rugby World Cup 2019 Extended Trading Hours) Amendment Bill
This bill amends the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 to allow eligible licensees to extend trading hours for the purposes of televising games played as part of the Rugby World Cup 2019.
Contempt of Court Bill
This bill reforms the law of contempt in New Zealand courts.
Ngāti Rangi Claims Settlement Bill
The bill gives effect to certain matters contained in the deed of settlement known as Te Rukutia Te Mana and signed on 10 March 2018 by the Crown and Ngāti Rangi.
Trusts Bill
This bill will replace the Trustee Act 1956 and the Perpetuities Act 1964 to make trust law more accessible, clarify and simplify core trust principles and essential obligations for trustees, and preserve the flexibility of the common law to allow trust law to continue to evolve through the courts
Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal Bill
This bill establishes the Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal. The tribunal's purpose is to provide speedy, flexible, and cost-effective services to help resolve insurance claims between policyholders and insurers, and insured persons and the Earthquake Commission under the Earthquake Commission Act 1993.
District Court (District Court Judges) Amendment Bill
This bill amends the District Court Act 2016 to increase the maximum number of District Court Judges that can be appointed at any time from 160 full-time equivalents to 182 full-time equivalents.
Ngā Rohe Moana o Ngā Hapū o Ngāti Porou Bill (No 2)
This bill gives effect to the deed of agreement between ngā hapū o Ngāti Porou and the Crown, and will contribute to the legal expression, protection, and recognition of the continued exercise of mana by ngā hapū o Ngāti Porou in relation to ngā rohe moana o ngā hapū o Ngāti Porou.
Crimes Amendment Bill
This bill repeals 3 provisions in the Crimes Act 1961. Section 71(2) protects spouses and civil union partners in cases where they would otherwise be an accessory after the fact to an offence. Section 123 contains an offence of blasphemous libel. The bill also repeals the year-and-a-day rule contained in section 162.
Coroners (Access to Body of Dead Person) Amendment Bill
This bill implements a recommendation of the Māori Affairs Committee Report, Inquiry into whanau access to and management of tūpāpaku, to improve cultural considerations in the coronial system.
Ngāti Tūwharetoa Claims Settlement Bill
This bill gives effect to certain matters contained in the deed signed on 8 July 2017 between the Crown and Ngāti Tūwharetoa. The deed will be the final settlement of all the historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Ngāti Tūwharetoa resulting from acts or omissions by the Crown before 21 September 1992. This bill contains provisions related to settlement redress that require legislation for their implementation. Other aspects of the settlement are provided for only in the deed because they do not require legislative authority.
